Look Who’s Talking About Us!
Besides The Dalai Lama of course…
TUTC’s Chamba Camps in Ladakh have recently been featured in GQ and Outlook magazines for “fine hospitality in an inhospitable terrain”. GQ hosted a photoshoot for musician Sahej Bakshi and photographer R Burman at Chamba Camp in Thiksey. Meanwhile, writer Sheetal Vyas indulged in activities at both Chamba Camps in Thiksey and Diskit, penning her appreciation of her experience in the August 2016 issue of Outlook Traveller.
The laid-back luxury of TUTC’s camp in Thiksey worked its creative magic on Sahej and Burman. The duo created a seventies Bohemian vibe in the midst of lush valleys surrounded by snow-capped mountains. In addition to the spectacular vistas, the tented luxury, gourmet cuisine and the TUTC staff’s superlative service, made the entire GQ shoot a massive success.
Sheetal, from Outlook magazine, also made the most of her glamping experience. Before TUTC, she had only camped in Ladakh for her Stok Kangri climb. The two camping experiences were as different as chalk and cheese. She roughed it out in one, and lived it up at TUTC. Here’s how Sheetal described the experience, “A holiday where you can do as much or as little as you care to and maximise it all anyway.” Right from a service fit for Maharajas, to tailor-made offbeat excursions, including the once-in-twelve-years Hemis Festival and an encounter with the village oracle. She even went rafting on the Zanskar, visited with the king of Turtuk (a village close to the border and once a part of Pakistan), tried wildlife spotting at Wari-la and more during her TUTC stay.
